Operational reliability for industry with ECONOSTO Oy’s valve solutions

ECONOSTO Oy specializes in the import, distribution, and export of industrial valves. The company serves a wide range of industrial sectors, acting both as a supplier of individual components and as a partner delivering comprehensive valve solutions.

“Many competitors focus on a specific sector, whereas we serve virtually all industrial segments,” says Area Sales Manager Antti Kurvinen.

A versatile valve house for demanding industrial applications

Founded in the late 1980s, ECONOSTO Oy’s customers include companies operating in the process, energy, mining, chemical, water, and marine industries. The company operates in environments where requirements are high and operational reliability is critical.

“One could say we operate on land and at sea — and when necessary, even in the air,” Kurvinen explains.

“We are also active in project business across multiple sectors. One of our most significant industries is marine. We have been serving that sector since the very beginning.”

“On the ‘land side,’ we operate in water infrastructure, wastewater management, power generation, manufacturing industries, and mining. Our customer base and industries truly form a broad spectrum,” Kurvinen adds.

In an industry characterized by long supply chains and often large-scale projects, trust is a key competitive factor. Customers recognize ECONOSTO as a stable and long-term partner.

Key strengths: fast response, extensive inventory, and technical expertise

A core competitive advantage of ECONOSTO Oy is the combination of a comprehensive inventory, rapid response capability, and strong technical expertise.

The company’s operating model enables the majority of customer needs to be fulfilled quickly, without long lead times.

“Our trump card is a wholesale-style operating model: extensive stock and rapid response. This allows us to handle a large portion of inquiries immediately,” says Antti Kurvinen.

Speed becomes especially critical in situations where production downtime could result in substantial costs for the customer.

“If a pulp mill or steel plant shuts down for a day, the costs are not measured in thousands but easily in hundreds of thousands of euros. Compared to that, expedited delivery of a single valve is a completely secondary cost,” Kurvinen notes.

Preventive maintenance reduces downtime

ECONOSTO Oy supports preventive maintenance as part of its customers’ risk management strategies. According to Antti Kurvinen, customers increasingly monitor their processes through measurements and automation systems.

“Even small changes in data can indicate emerging issues. Variations in flow rate, changes in velocity, or the onset of cavitation may signal that something has changed in the pipeline. In such cases, the root cause is investigated before the problem escalates.”

“Preventive maintenance not only prevents sudden failures but also supports long-term production development and lifecycle management of equipment.”

Butterfly valves – One of the core product groups

Within ECONOSTO Oy’s extensive product portfolio, butterfly valves represent one of the largest product groups by volume. They are widely used across industries and in various process applications.

“Butterfly valves are our most dynamic product group. They are highly versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications,” says Area Sales Manager Olli-Veikko Räihä.

In butterfly valves as well, ECONOSTO Oy’s strengths lie in both technical expertise and the breadth and depth of its product range.

“We offer an extensive repertoire of butterfly valves with different elastomer linings, body materials, and coatings. One material is suitable for a certain medium, another is not. Experience has taught us what works in each application,” Räihä explains.

Safety valve testing and servicing with in-house test benches

Testing of safety valves is one of ECONOSTO Oy’s specialized service areas. The company operates its own adjustment and test benches, allowing safety valves to be calibrated and tested in-house, with precise documentation of results.

“We can accurately set the set pressure of safety valves and provide digital test certificates as well as opening characteristic curves to customers,” says Olli-Veikko Räihä.

“We also inspect and test customers’ own safety valves. In addition, our installation team performs on-site installation and replacement of valves and actuators at customer facilities,” Räihä adds.

On-site valve troubleshooting and condition assessments and tailor-made valve packages

ECONOSTO Oy designs and delivers customized valve packages according to customer requirements.

“Our broad product portfolio enables highly versatile assemblies. Valves, actuators, and materials are selected based on whether the line is to be shut off or the flow controlled,” Räihä explains.

Customer care does not end with delivery. The company also provides site survey services to assess maintenance needs and create plans to ensure long-term operational reliability.

Expertise and partnership at the core of customer service

ECONOSTO Oy’s operations are driven by strong expertise, extensive experience, and thorough assessment of customer needs.

“A valve cannot simply be offered off the shelf. We always ask about the medium, temperature, pressure, and operating conditions,” says Olli-Veikko Räihä.

In the worst case, an incorrect valve selection can become costly if safety or environmental risks materialize.

“Ensuring the right and fully fit-for-purpose solution is at the core of our work,” Räihä emphasizes.

For customers, this approach translates into reliable partnership and ease of doing business.

“Customers always have a familiar contact person who understands their operating environment. They receive everything they need under one roof,” summarizes Antti Kurvinen.

Certifications as part of a responsible operating mode

ECONOSTO Oy’s operations are based on controlled processes and a responsible, safety-oriented way of working. These principles are supported by a certified management system covering quality management (ISO 9001:2015), environmental management (ISO 14001:2015), and occupational health and safety (ISO 45001:2018).

The certifications have been granted by the independent certification body Bureau Veritas.

“Quality, environmental responsibility, and safety are integrated into our daily operations and decision-making,” state Antti Kurvinen and Olli-Veikko Räihä.

Strategic location in Kuopio provides logistical advantage

ECONOSTO Oy’s facility in Kuopio provides significant logistical and service advantages, particularly for customers in Eastern and Central Finland.

“From Kuopio, many industrial locations are within close reach. Delivery speed is a clear competitive advantage for us,” says Olli-Veikko Räihä.

ECONOSTO Oy is part of KLINGER Finland, bringing additional expertise, resources, and development capabilities — without compromising local service.

“The real people answer the phone here in Kuopio. Easy accessibility is important to our customers,” concludes Olli-Veikko Räihä.
